Shoosmiths' corporate team acted on the sale of Benson Box Holdings Limited - a transaction that was voted 'Deal of the Year' at Insider's Midlands Dealmakers Awards, 2012.
The Shoosmiths team advised on the sale of Benson Box Holdings Limited to the existing management team, backed by private equity provider Lloyds Development Capital, with bank funding provided by Lloyds and HSBC.
Benson Box, headquartered in Leicestershire, is one of the UK's largest manufacturers of printed folding carton and sleeve packaging.
The cross-discipline team at Shoosmiths which advised on the sale was led by corporate partner Chris Garnett, with assistance from associate Kelly Prestidge and solicitor David Obahiagbon.
A separate team at Shoosmiths advised the management team on their investment in the acquiring vehicle which was led by corporate partner Sanjeev Sharma, assisted by associate Alex Lilley.
What was the end result for the client and how did they benefit?
The Shoosmiths team project managed all aspects of the legal sale process in order to achieve an exit for the two principal family shareholders and to enable the existing management team to have the opportunity to continue to grow the business moving forward.
This disposal was one of the largest corporate disposals in the East Midlands in 2011 and one of only three reported private equity deals in the region during the same period.
