Public procurement: Revised thresholds

Public procurement: Revised thresholds

The European Commission has announced - Regulation 1336/2013 - that it will be changing the advertising thresholds under the public procurement rules with effect from 1 January 2014.

The new thresholds will apply, for the next two years, to the Public Sector procurement rules, the Utilities procurement rules and the Defence procurement rules.

If you are a public sector buyer, you need to apply these rates from January. If you are a supplier to the public sector, you will need to know which contracts are caught and will have to be tendered out.

The new thresholds are set out in the table below.

You will see that, although the thresholds in Euros have gone up, the equivalent Sterling values have actually gone down slightly; so the thresholds will be a little bit lower in the UK as compared to the last two years.

You can click here to view the Commission's Regulation on the new thresholds, and here for the conversion chart showing the Sterling values.
