Our recent experience is that many companies are either still not aware of their obligations or are not putting steps in place to satisfy the new rules.

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme was introduced by the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme Regulations 2014.

We previously warned that large organisations are required to comply with a new energy audit requirement by 5 December 2015.

Compliance is not optional. The purpose of this briefing is to remind you that time is running out. Large organisations must comply by the December deadline or risk penalties for not doing so. Financial penalties vary according to the breach but they can be as high as £50,000 with additional daily penalties levied where it is felt to be appropriate.

Furthermore, the Environment Agency has authority to issue penalty notices on its website should it choose to do so.

If you are in any doubt as to whether your organisation is affected, please get in touch with our Regulatory and Compliance team.
