Lucy is a property litigation solicitor-advocate who acts for a wide range of clients including commercial landlords and tenants, mortgage lenders, receivers and property developers. She has experience in advising on a variety of property issues: all aspects of landlord and tenant litigation including dilapidations, service charges, arrears of rent, rent reviews, lease renewals, enforcement of lease covenants and forfeiture; mortgage law including fraud, possession and shortfall claims; professional negligence; boundary disputes; adverse possession; actions against trespassers; easements; restrictive covenants; and specific performance of contracts.
Her recent experience includes advising:
- a park holiday business on enforcing positive covenants against successors in title. This case involved the issue of over 150 claims, two first instance trials, mediation and successfully opposing an appeal at the Court of Appeal (Wilkinson & Others v Kerdene Ltd  EWCA Civ 44);
- a major charitable organisation on property matters including adverse possession, trespass and obtaining injunctive and declaratory relief;
- receivers on matters arising in conjunction with the disposal of properties including trespass, possession, variation of leases, licences and lease renewal proceedings;
- Property Management companies in relation to issues arising from both residential and commercial leases, and Leasehold Valuation Tribunal proceedings.
Lucy studied at the University of Hull before completing the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law and being called to the Bar in 2003. She undertook general civil and commercial litigation work prior to cross-qualifying as a solicitor in 2007. Lucy worked for Charles Russell LLP before joining Shoosmiths in April 2009.
Lucy is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn. She is an experienced advocate having qualified as a barrister prior to converting to practise as a solicitor and has obtained the Higher Courts (Civil Advocacy) Qualification.
