Sarah is an experienced employment specialist who advises both public and private sector employers. She also advises a number of household names and has particular experience in the retail sector providing advice to large retail corporates and she is a member of the HR Retail Circle. Sarah acts for a number of higher education institutions and was seconded to the Human Resources department of a large higher education employe. Sarah also advises on business immigration matters.
She gives practical commercial advice to clients to enable them to achieve their goals. Her approachable and practical style is appreciated by clients. Sarah has a vast experience of complicated contentious matters and she guides clients through the process whether that is bringing an early conclusion to the case by firm negotiation or pursuing the claim through to a full hearing. She is particularly appreciated for her support of witnesses throughout the process.
Recent work includes:
- advising a higher education institution in relation to a race/sex discrimination claim involving the institution and a number of its senior management team;
- advising a public sector body on a case brought by seasonal workers with a potential impact on its entire operation;
- advising a retail client in relation to the restructure of its European operations requiring coordination through various countries;
- obtaining sponsor licences and supporting individual applications for leave to enter/remain on behalf of a major international retailer.
Sarah is an experienced trainer and has delivered bespoke training on various topics and regularly speaks at our national seminars.
She joined Shoosmiths in 2003 and trained with the firm before qualifying into the employment law team. She was promoted to Associate in May 2010 and to Senior Associate in 2013.
