Stephen is a construction lawyer with a wide experience of acting for contractors, developers, house builders, institutional lenders and subcontractors across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious construction law.

Stephen’s primary focus is non-contentious, providing advice to developers and funders relating to the procurement of mixed use, retail, office and leisure schemes. Stephen also acts for liquidators/administrators in the recovery of assets of failed construction companies. Stephen’s approach is to give proactive and efficient advice on time, so that the client’s expectations are achieved.

His recent project experience includes advising:-

  • A high street bank on a £20m lend to a residential developer.
  • A joint venture between a regional development agency and private company on the purchase of 20 plus sites and dealing with the development of the sites post purchase.
  • A health trust on the remediation and development of a decommissioned hospital.
  • A developer on the procurement of a mixed use scheme including a hotel, blue chip tenants and a supermarket.

Stephen trained with Neil F Jones (now part of Wragge & Co) and qualified in October 1996. After spending seven years with Gateley Wareing (now Gateley), Stephen moved to Martineau Johnson (now SGH Martineau), before joining Shoosmiths in November 2006.
