What is this?
Susan is responsible for keeping the firm’s corporate lawyers up to date with changes in law and practice. Susan organises and presents training on corporate law both internally and to clients, writes and edits legal updates and articles for publication and produces legal know-how.
Particular areas of interest include share sale transactions, business sales, partnerships and company and financial services law, Listing Rules and Takeover Code issues.
Recent projects include:
- organising and managing the roll out a Developing Lawyer programme internally and to in-house lawyers in three locations;
- involvement in the practice group risk management programme.
Susan graduated from St Hilda's College, Oxford University with BA Hons, Jurisprudence and qualified as a corporate solicitor with CMS Cameron McKenna. She worked as a transactional lawyer at Allen & Overy for 4 years, leaving to become the first corporate lawyer at Innogy plc. After seven years as Head of Business Law on the Legal Practice Course at Oxford she joined Shoosmiths as a PSL in 2001.
Susan is former Chair and active committee member of the St Hilda's College Law Network, has been a committee member of the London-based Legal Education and Training Group, and is also the Skills Subject Adviser to the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice.
