New Friday event hits all the right notes
02 May 2008
Young professionals from Milton Keynes enjoyed the second successful ‘New Friday’ event with over 70 people attending an Open Mic evening.
Up and coming musicians in and around Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire played at the New Friday “Sessions” which were hosted by Opus in central Milton Keynes. The musicians, who were not auditioned, performed either a short set of covers or their own material, adding to the excitement and originality of the night. Names included, The Louis Hanshaw Band, Peter Daley, Emily Haig, Grant Reeves and Speeding Mellow (Garry Murphy and Nicole Collarbone).
The sponsors - Shoosmiths, Royal Bank of Scotland and PricewaterhouseCoopers – were delighted, once again with the success of the evening.
Alex Wong, a trainee lawyer at the Shoosmiths’ Milton Keynes office and New Friday event organiser, said: “The evening was fantastic and the feedback has been incredibly positive. It wasn’t your typical ‘networking’ type event and that’s what our guests have found so refreshing. I’m very grateful to our sponsors for their continued support.”
