Former City lawyer strengthens regulatory team
11 August 2008
Shoosmiths has strengthened its regulatory team with the arrival in the south east of a lawyer from a top 20 City firm.
Associate Philip Ryan was a regulatory specialist at Berwin Leighton Paisner, where he also spent time in-house at Tesco as a trading law manager, responsible for operational issues across its 2,000 stores. He will be based at Shoosmiths’ Thames Valley office, in Reading.
Ryan has acted for clients in the automotive, retail, leisure, construction, marine, food and pharmaceutical sectors, providing advice on both contentious and non-contentious transactional issues.
His experience includes advising on crisis management in the areas of health and safety, food safety and labeling, consumer protection, advertising compliance, and environmental and waste management.
At Shoosmiths he has already led a series of successful seminars attended by more than 40 companies aimed at helping them avoid falling foul of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and is now speaking to blue chip clients across the retail, manufacturing and automotive sectors on the topic.
