Rossi is Shoosmiths-sponsored Man of the Year
11 December 2008
MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi was named Shoosmiths-sponsored Man of the Year, at this year's Motorcycle News Awards.
The bike world equivalent of the BAFTAS, the MCN Awards recognise the best riders, machines, manufacturers, dealers and equipment.Hosted by comedian Alan Davies, 450 guests attended the event, staged at the National Motorcycle Museum, near Birmingham.
As part of the national law firm's new strategy to raise the profile of its personal injury work in the motorcycle community, Shoosmiths sponsored the prestigious Man of the Year award, which was scooped by eight times world champion Valentino Rossi.
The award was voted for by users of motorcyclenews.com
Rossi was unable to attend the event, but guests watched a video of him accepting his award from BBC MotoGP presenter Suzi Perry.
He said: "I am very happy to receive this award, and it means so much more to me because it has been voted for by the fans and readers of MCN.
"I always love coming to Britain to race as the fans there are crazy. Donington Park is one of my favourite circuits, and I hope to win there again next year."
Shoosmiths partner Rose Donoghue said: "The Awards provided us with a perfect opportunity to raise our profile among those in the motorcycle industry who can refer high value personal injury claims."
