Backbone in place as Manchester growth continues

19 March 2009

Shoosmiths is to make three significant new appointments at its recently-opened Manchester office.

Paul McDowell, Peter Hamer and Nigel Burrows complete the ‘backbone’ of the national law firm’s mortgage shortfall recoveries team, as its North West operation continues to expand.

As team leaders, they will each establish and develop their own mortgage shortfall recovery teams.

All three join from HL Interactive Solicitors.

McDowell, who has 20 years’ collections experience, has been at HL Interactive for more than 11 years, and was instrumental in setting up its mortgage shortfall department.

Senior collector Hamer will be responsible for the increasingly important area of mortgage repossession rehabilitation; while Burrows brings experience of handling major clients.

They will be part of the mortgage shortfall management team led by head of recoveries – Manchester, Sean Adams, who also joined from HL Interactive shortly after Shoosmiths opened in the city, in January.

Partner and head of Lender Services Waine Mannix said: “These appointments put in place the backbone of the mortgage shortfall recoveries department, and are proof of what we said we would do here in Manchester - build a  specialist team quickly, but carefully, and be able to offer our widely respected services in the region.”

Shoosmiths’ national Lender Services team brings together three specialisms for the finance sector: finance litigation; recoveries and collections; and regulation and compliance.
