Shoosmiths to don its running shoes for asbestos charity
27 May 2009
A team of employees from national law firm Shoosmiths will be donning their running shoes to take part in the Great Midlands Fun Run on 31 May.
The Birmingham-based team of three will be captained by Associate and personal injury specialist Sara Hunt, who will be joined by Solicitor Kishma Small and “Access Shoosmiths” Manager Kirsty Collins to raise money for Asbestos Support West Midlands.
Asbestos Support West Midlands helps people who are suffering from asbestos related disease by providing free and confidential support to them and their families.
Asbestos remains the biggest work related cause of death in the UK and continues to take the lives of thousands of people each year.
Hunt, who specialises in asbestos disease claims, said: “Asbestos Support West Midlands provide vital support to those affected by asbestos and I feel privileged to be raising funds for the charity.
“People are mistaken if they think asbestos is a danger from the past. Sadly, for many its effects are only now being felt, years after they were exposed to it.
“It’s vital through the work done by the support group that we highlight its continued presence in buildings, the terrible dangers it still poses and what can be done for those who’ve already been exposed to it.”
Shoosmiths is looking forward to matching the sum total of the funds raised by the three team mates.
