Appeal for witnesses: Eccles Caravans/Caravans International Ltd

02 November 2009

Shoosmiths wants to hear from former workers of Rodney Snare who worked at Eccles Caravans – or Caravans International, as it was also known – in Newmarket, between 1961 and 1972.

Rodney Snare, who is suffering from an asbestos-related condition as a result of exposure to asbestos, was employed by the company as a wood machinist.

He worked at the Pines Factory, Fordham Road, Newmarket, where the company traded as Eccles Caravans.

Whilst he was working there, he was exposed to asbestos.

Mr Snare was responsible for putting asbestos boarding at the back of heaters fitted to the caravans, cutting asbestos sheets into correct shapes. This created asbestos dust, which completely covered him by the end of the day.

Mr Snare would like any former colleagues who recall working with him to contact Sara Hunt, at Shoosmiths, and provide information about the presence of asbestos in the workplace.
