Shoosmiths names Manchester head of office

Shoosmiths has named partner Harold Brako as head of its Manchester office.

The national law firm has a partner as a designated head at each of its eight offices around the country.

Brako, who joined Shoosmiths when it opened in the city in January 2009, takes up his new role with immediate effect.

He said: “I was delighted to be asked, and accepted at once.

“As head of office I must ensure Shoosmiths’ culture and values are maintained within the office; that staff have the necessary support and resources to do their jobs effectively, and to ensure the firm maintains a high profile in the local business community.”

Since opening in Spinningfields the head of office role had been performed by Northampton-based partner Waine Mannix, while at the same time leading Shoosmiths’ Lender Services Group.

Mannix said: “Given the opportunities in the local market coupled with the size and multi-discipline make up of the office now, it is the right time for a resident office head to be appointed.
 
“Harold is perfect for the role, and will perform it alongside developing our receivables finance and banking litigation offerings.”

Brako specialises in banking and finance litigation and dispute resolution for finance sector clients, including members of the Asset Based Finance Association, and the Finance and Leasing Association, as well as the major UK clearing banks.

His team is part of the Lender Services Group, which brings together three finance sector specialisms: finance litigation; recoveries and collections; and regulation and compliance.
