Shoosmiths wins Moto commercial and property work

05 November 2007

Following a panel review, motorway services operator Moto has appointed national firm Shoosmiths to its panel of advisors handling commercial contracts and property work.

The Shoosmiths’ team is being headed up by commercial partner David Jackson and property partner Simon Boss.  The team has already completed its first job for Moto after advising on a three-year multi-million pound exclusive supply deal with Inspired Gaming Group for the provision of gaming machines at its service stations throughout the UK.

Moto, which employs around 6000 staff and has 43 service stations, is now owned by  a consortium led by Australian Bank Macquarie after a sale from Compass Group Plc in 2006.

The review was carried out by Moto’s Head of Legal Julia Elson who said:  “The Shoosmiths’ team impressed us with its commercial outlook and track record in advising national companies with multi-site operations.”

Commenting for Shoosmiths, David Jackson said: “We are delighted that Moto has appointed Shoosmiths to its panel.  We are looking forward to building a lasting relationship with Moto and working closely with Julia and the Moto management team to provide a seamless extension to the in-house capability.”

Travers Smith and DLA Piper also continue to advise Moto.
