Shoosmiths’ biggest, strongest team will jet to Cannes

20 February 2008

National law firm Shoosmiths is preparing to send its biggest and strongest team of lawyers to the annual gathering of the property world’s movers and shakers, in Cannes.

An eight-strong team of property experts gathered from its Birmingham, Milton Keynes,  Nottingham, Reading and Solent offices will attend MIPIM, the property industry’s most important and influential event.

Among the Shoosmiths team will be Birmingham partner and head of office Joel Kordan, partners Jason Jackson and Vaq Farooq, and solicitor Helen Martin.

It is the first time the law firm has sent non-partners to MIPIM – which runs from 11-14 March – and it hopes the mix of experience and young blood will make for a winning combination.

Shoosmiths has planned a series of lunches with key clients and contacts, at which it aims to focus on cross-selling the firm’s skills and expertise. Its lawyers will also attend myriad breakfast meetings, brunches, parties and cocktail receptions all over the famous French resort.

Joel Kordan said: “MIPIM has become such an important event in the world property market that it is essential we have a presence there, and this year we intend to really make that presence felt with our largest delegation yet.

“And our main aim is to show clients and prospective clients that Shoosmiths is able to offer them legal advice across several disciplines, and not just the ones they use us for at present.”

Shoosmiths will also use MIPIM as an opportunity to meet other members of the World Services Group, a global network of law firms, of which it is the only UK representative.

MIPIM 2007 saw 26,000 delegates from 83 countries attend, and numbers are expected to grow this year.
