Shoosmiths' Recoveries Services Group (RSG) has scored a double at this year's Mortgage Finance Gazette Awards.
The national law firm was judged top in the Customer Services/Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and Community Services categories for non-lenders.
The TCF entry focused on the collaborative approach RSG has adopted for dealing with clients' customers who have mental health issues.
Shoosmiths' approach is to ensure such customers are treated fairly and appropriately, and works with clients to ensure a consistent approach.
Its Community Services submission highlighted RSG's contribution to firmwide corporate responsibility initiatives, mentioning partner and head of RSG Waine Mannix as part of a team that completed a 5k Santa Dash last Christmas to raise more than £1,000 for Brainwave; partner and Manchester head of office Harold Brako hosting a leadership training course for the Common Purpose charity; and senior associate Jenny Ogden conducting training for clients on how to deal with customers who have mental health issues.
Mannix and Shoosmiths corporate responsibility director Nicola Ellen received the awards at a London drinks reception.
He said: "It's pleasing to be recognised for our efforts in embedding a TCF culture in our team, particularly in relation to clients' customers with mental health issues.
"Both award wins reveal just how the people at Shoosmiths are able to give something back and make a positive contribution to the wider community."
