Shoosmiths has boosted its corporate offering in the North West by bringing in a new senior associate as well as two further lawyers into its growing Manchester office.
Damien Brown joins the national law firm as a senior associate specialising in corporate finance, acquisitions and disposals and private investment work.
Damien was previously a senior associate in the Manchester office of Squire Patton Boggs where he was responsible for running a wide range of transactions, from advising on MBOs and MBIs to multi-national plc acquisitions and disposals. Damien has particular experience in the chemicals' sector where he led a number of projects for INEOS, Innospec and Mexichem.
Corporate solicitor Benjamin Dredge also joins the team from Preston-based Napthens, where he advised a range of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and start-ups as well as larger corporates. He has particular expertise in advising IT, procurement, media, leisure and travel companies.
Kimberley Bruce joins the team as a newly qualified solicitor, after undertaking a training contract at the firm. Kimberley has already gained experience in Shoosmiths' insolvency, commercial, corporate and employment teams over the last two years.
Damien, Benjamin and Kim will be assisting the corporate team in advising public and private companies, management teams, and private equity investors across the whole range of corporate transactional work.
Damien said: 'This is an exciting time to join Shoosmiths and the corporate team in particular. Shoosmiths has both a great national and local reputation, especially in Manchester where the firm has grown significantly in recent years.'
Shoosmiths' Manchester office head, Harold Brako said: 'Damien, Benjamin and Kimberley's arrival demonstrates our commitment to building our presence here in Manchester.
'We are committed to growing our offering with the best talent in line with local market demands. Our new hires arrive at an exciting time for Shoosmiths' Manchester office. The thriving Manchester marketplace is reflected in our growth ambitions and the depth and breadth of the corporate team we are building here at Shoosmiths.'
Shoosmiths' corporate group advises public and private companies, management teams, investors and debt providers right through the business lifecycle, from start up and first round finance through to mergers and acquisitions, MBO and MBI transactions, development funding, and on exits, whether by way of sale, listing or private equity investment.
