Shoosmiths is celebrating its first year in one of Birmingham's most prestigious office buildings
In May last year, the national law firm took over the city's largest single floor plate of 40,000 sq ft at Two Colmore Square. The firm moved to accommodate growing numbers and to underline its commitment to servicing local and national clients. Around 180 legal advisers and support staff relocated the short distance from 125 Colmore Row, where the firm launched in the city in 2003 with just seven people.
Head of the Birmingham office Jason Jackson said: 'This move has been great for business. This office is at the heart of Birmingham's financial and business district. We are perfectly placed to expand our West Midlands operation, and have strengthened our teams providing advice to national clients.'
The proposal to move was one of the most incentivised office space packages seen in the city and Shoosmiths were praised for striking a savvy deal by commercial property watchers at a time when available Grade A office space in Birmingham was dwindling.
One commentator said: 'Shoosmiths were probably first to 'wake up and smell the coffee. They took 40,000 sq ft.in 2012's biggest single transaction - a full three years ahead of their lease event.'
As well as the largest single floor plate in the city, Two Colmore Square provides Shoosmiths and their clients with state-of-the-art facilities and workspace, high levels of connectivity, 31meeting rooms, 24-hour access, and 50 parking spaces.
