The finalists came from 33 different firms across Scotland, with 61 entries making the shortlist in various categories contested at the event held in the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh. Winners were selected by a 12-strong judging panel chaired by Margo Macdonald MSP with Lorna Jack, chief executive of the Law Society of Scotland, as vice-chair.
The highest number of entries in the 11 year history of the awards and the quality of the work highlighted made the competition particularly fierce this year. Shoosmiths won the 'Private Client Team of the Year' accolade and was a finalist in the 'Litigation Team of the Year' and 'Rising Star of the Year' categories.
Commenting on the event and Shoosmiths' success, Janette Speed, partner in the firm's real estate practice and head of the Edinburgh office said:
"It's very pleasing to gain recognition of the great work our people do through these awards, especially when achieved in the context of comparison with our peers in the profession. I am delighted for our private client team and the individuals involved. It is no more than their hard work, expertise, dedication to serving the needs of our clients and cheerful application to the cause over the past year deserves."
