National law firm Shoosmiths teamed up with Meridian Corporate Finance last night to bring together business leaders in the Solent region for a networking dinner ahead of the Southampton Boat Show being held between 12th and 21st September 2014.
The dinner, held at the highly acclaimed Hotel Terravina in Woodlands, gave guests from the marine community a chance to meet, discuss ongoing topics of interest and share best practise ahead of the key event in the global marine calendar.
Guests were welcomed to the hotel with canapés and aperitifs and listened to a welcoming address from Andy Hindley, Chief Operating Officer of Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR). Andy started by showing a high octane video about the Americas Cup and spoke about how Sir Ben and his team are determined to win the Cup for Britain (the first time in the Cup's 150 year history) when it is next held in 2017. Andy also talked about developments regarding BAR's new headquarters in Old Portsmouth.
A four-course meal followed, complemented by carefully selected wines chosen by Hotel Terravina owner Gerard Basset. Gerard is the only Sommelier in history to simultaneously hold titles of World's Best Sommelier, Master Sommelier and Master of Wine.
Stephen Porter, corporate partner at Shoosmiths, said: "It was a privilege to have hosted this dinner with Meridian. Shoosmiths has received fantastic feedback from guests who attended. Andy's speech was very engaging and the venue was perfect. We are very glad to have been able to jointly organise such an event, giving business leaders in the marine world a great opportunity to meet and build relationships."
Darren Thompson of Meridian Corporate Finance, added: "The Southampton Boat Show is the most important event in the UK marine calendar and Meridian has been fortunate to have been very active in advising businesses in this sector. We recognised that a specific networking dinner was a good opportunity for the local supply chain to get together, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all."
Shoosmiths has acted for a number of business leaders in the marine community and has legal advisors experienced in all aspects of corporate and finance work and the planning and development of marinas across the UK.
