Shoosmiths has advised Mabey Group on the multimillion pound sales of properties at Chepstow, South Wales and Chatham Maritime, Kent.

Shoosmiths' real estate team advised Mabey Group on the sale of Newhouse Distribution Park in Chepstow to AluK Limited. Shoosmiths' real estate partner Nathan Rees led on the deal, assisted by associates Laura Limpus and Nick Dalgleish, with specialist input from Shoosmiths' construction team. The Shoosmiths team advised Mabey on all aspects of the sale, including dovetailing the decommissioning of the site by specialist contractors in order for AluK to then take access and adapt the property for its use.

Nathan Rees and Nick Dalgleish also acted for Mabey Property Limited on the sale of Compass South, Chatham Maritime to FWRE Limited, having recently acted on the letting of the entire site to Portal Chatham LLP. The building, one of few spaces of its size and quality available in the region, provides 32,890 sq. ft. (3,055.5 m²) of office space and 160 parking spaces.

Kate Beauchamp, Group Chief Legal Officer of Mabey, said: 'These are significant deals for Mabey Group; Shoosmiths had to understand our commercial and community aims and support us with excellent commercial and practical legal advice.'

Shoosmiths' Nathan Rees, said: 'It was a pleasure working with Mabey on such important transactions which required careful planning and the use of our broader legal and commercial expertise, while the sale of Compass South allows the client to realise the capital value generated by its asset management initiatives.'

Shoosmiths' real estate group is one of the largest in the UK, made up of teams advising on real estate, construction, planning, property litigation, and environmental issues.

Shoosmiths' clients include commercial and residential developers, investors, retail and leisure operators, social housing bodies, major corporate occupiers, banks and other funders and a range of public sector bodies.
