Bestselling author and comedian Tony Hawks presented the award to corporate partner Emma Gibson, at the ceremony hosted by The Business Magazine at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre on 23 April.

The annual awards recognise best practice in business transactions and attract entries from banks, private equity houses, business advisers, lawyers and other advisors from across the Thames Valley region.

Emma Gibson said: 'Thames Valley has a thriving business community and we are proud to be recognised for supporting our clients in achieving their business objectives.'

'Shoosmiths reputation for delivering specialist legal expertise and an exceptional client experience has come from really listening to our clients and working closely with them to find a better way of delivering advice, saving them time and money.'

This award win is the latest accolade that the firm has received this year - recently, the national corporate team was ranked top by deal volume in Experian's UK Deal Review and Advisor League Table in the South East, and second overall nationally. Both legal directories, Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 have ranked the team in the first tier in both publications. Chambers described the team as 'addressing the gap for a service-oriented, client-centered law firm, able to deliver year-on-year cost savings to clients' and Legal 500 said the team had particular strengths in 'its people and its genuine focus on clients'.

Shoosmiths' corporate team advises public and private companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle. Shoosmiths works with businesses from start up and first round finance through to mergers and acquisitions, MBO and MBI transactions, development funding and on exits, whether by way of sale, listing or private equity investment.
