Awards & recognition
The department takes a lot of pride in the awards and recognition gained on behalf of the Firm:
- Legal Week has ranked Shoosmiths among the top three most female partner friendly law firms with 33 female partners as at 1 May 2011 (32.4%)
- Shortlisted for the Excellence in Talent Management and Retention category by The Lawyer Workplace & Diversity Awards 2012
- Shoosmiths were awarded both the DLT Firm of the Year 2011 after ranking 1st in the Overall Diversity League Table. and the award for Diversity Champion 2011 which was presented to Rita Tappia, Recruitment Manager. These awards are sponsored by the Black Solicitors Network.
- In Legal Week's Employee Satisfaction survey, Shoosmiths heads the national table and came fifth out of 64 firms in the top 100. It is the 6th consecutive year we have featured at the top for employee satisfaction. Notable improvements for 2011 included prestige, feeling valued and treatment by partners.
- Shoosmiths has become the first top 100 law firm to achieve the Investors in People Gold Standard. IIP is the most recognised accolade in the UK for business improvement through people, and we join an elite band of just 6.6% of all UK companies to be awarded its prestigious and hard-to-earn Gold Standard.
- Shortisted for the Most Innovative Recruitment Initiative for our graduate recruitment - Lawyer HR Awards 2010
- Awarded Best Legal Employer - Legal Week Intelligence Employee Satisfaction Report 2010
- Winner of the Commendation for Diversity Award 2010 from LawCareers.Net
- In the independently researched Top Legal Employers United Kingdom 2009 from Sweet & Maxwell, Shoosmiths is top ranked in two criteria: Diversity and People, Company Culture & Style
- Achieved the highest score of national firms and came third overall in a lawyer satisfaction survey of the top 50 UK law firms conducted by Legal Week Intelligence in 2009
- Presented the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award 2009 for 'demonstrating consistent excellence in health and safety performance'
- Founding signatories of the Law Society Charter for Equality & Diversity, promoting best practice in this area
