Corporate responsibility
Corporate Responsibility (CR) is a wonderful mix of bottom-up initiatives implemented by colleagues across our offices which underpin our strategy to ensure CR is aligned with our core business and clients' priorities.
Corporate Responsibility Director, Nicola Ellen, leads our strategy and there is ample opportunity for employee involvement; one of the reasons why the firm is such a highly rated place to work.
It is important we:
- Build and maintain sustainable community relationships
- Demonstrate high standards of environmental responsibility in our operations and minimise impacts associated with our activities, products and services
- Work collaboratively in the marketplace to evidence best practice aligned with our vision to be the first choice for legal advice for organisations and individuals
- Provide a positive, professional and co-operative working culture where everyone is value.
Some of the ways we bring these principles to life include:
- Colleagues vote for our national charity partners, organise fundraising and in-kind support for a range of local charity and community groups as well as our national charity partner, provide pro bono advice and participate in exciting volunteering programmes.
- Shoosmiths places a high priority on work-life balance. It is part of our culture which has enabled us to evolve successfully, many new employees want to work with high profile clients on quality transactions but still see daylight.
- Our clients value high CR standards and we find ways to work with them to support their CR strategies.
- We have helped many groups and individuals in the local community.
- Guided by a central CR vision and goals we encourage everyone to seek out opportunities to Shine at Shoosmiths.
