Northampton
Northampton is a prosperous town with a population of about 200,000, situated almost halfway between London and Birmingham.
It is surrounded by open countryside yet is large enough to have good shopping, entertainment and sports facilities.
Northampton has a colourful history as well as a promising future and the town very much combines old with new. It has many attractive parks, gardens and riverside walks. Members of the royal family have visited the town on many occasions, from the time of Henry I right up to the late Princess of Wales, whose family home was at nearby Althorpe.
