Shoosmiths' RoSPA hat-trick
14 May 2010
Shoosmiths has made it a RoSPA awards hat-trick.
The national law firm won top honours at The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2010.
It beat tough competition for the third time in four years to take the Commercial and Business Services Industry Sector award, which it won in 2006 and 2009.
The award is presented to organisations and businesses for ‘demonstrating consistent excellence in health and safety performance’.
Shoosmiths received its trophy at a ceremony attended by more than 1,000 guests, at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.
Partner and regulatory specialist Ron Reid, who heads Shoosmiths Occupational Safety (SOS), said: “I said last year that winning was down to determination, sheer hard work, and our people’s recognition that health and safety is an important part of how we operate on a daily basis.
“Well, that hasn’t changed, and this third success is testament to all the hard work put in by
our health and safety liaison manager Amanda Burditt, consultant Alan Jones, and the health and safety teams in each of our offices.”
RoSPA presents around 1,000 awards across various categories every year, and this year attracted a record 18,000 entries.
The awards recognise organisations that have good health and safety management systems in place, as well as promoting the reduction of accidents and ill-health at work. They are sponsored by The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, the leading health and safety examining body.
