Shoosmiths is a national law firm which understands the commercial needs of residential and mixed use developers with over 130 property lawyers, and a team of approximately 50 specialising in residential development, acting for a broad range of developers across the UK.

Our many years’ experience in the sector both in private practice and in-house gives us a genuine knowledge of the industry and enables us to anticipate the requirements of developers when acquiring and repackaging parcels of land for onward disposal and development.

Our team provides a full legal service to developers, investors and traders, ranging from initial site acquisition through to plot sales, managing planning, tax, environmental, construction and other commercial issues along the way.

We have significant experience in both strategic and immediate land acquisitions, both urban and rural, and in working with both market housing developers and housing associations.

Our team works as an extension of the developer’s team, working within its targets and always bearing in mind its commitments, such as year end and quarter days. We provide commercial and thorough advice in all matters relating to residential and mixed use development, including complicated legal structures, the acquisition of property SPVs, ground rent portfolio sales, disposals to or for housing associations, and strategic land management.
