Freedom of information
Whether you are a Public Authority or a commercial organisation that provides deliverables to Public Authorities understanding the application of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("FOI") is key in terms of identifying what commercial information is disclosable in response to requests for information and how the relevant exemptions to disclosure under the FOI should be correctly applied.
We have a full time specialist team of FOI and procurement lawyers who have in depth experience of all aspects of FOI and its application in the public sector and the commercial environment.
Our FOI services include:-
- making and responding to FOI requests on behalf of clients including advice on the application of the relevant exemptions to disclosure under the FOI
- handling Complaints to the Information Commissioner on behalf of clients to secure the most advantageous outcome for the client
- drafting FOI contractual clauses to secure Commercial partners co-operation to support Public Authorities obligations under the FOI including Public Authorities obligations to respond to FOI requests within the statutory timescales
- drafting FOI contractual clauses to secure Public Authorities co-operation to support the application of relevant exemptions to keep from the public domain commercially sensitive information
- advising on FOI compliance programmes (including training) to implement Published Schemes for Public Authorities.
