Rail
We have substantial experience of acting for a wide range of clients in the rail industry.
Our clients include a wide spectrum of rail industry bodies such as rolling stock manufacturers, leasing companies and operators (passenger franchises and freight) and a passenger transport executive.
Our teams include lawyers that have trained and worked at some of the major City law firms. Our lawyers are regularly recognised as experts in their field by the leading legal directories such as the Legal 500 and Chambers. Chambers recently said of one of our partners “he is highly regarded for his expertise in leasing and rolling stock work. He attracts much praise for his sensible, thorough approach and impressively detailed understanding of the marketplace”. Our lawyers understand this sector.
Some of our lawyers have been involved in the industry since privatisation. Privatisation work included advising two BR divisions in connection with their privatisation, vesting and franchising arrangements and advising in connection with the development of the National Station and National Depot Access Conditions.
Recent work has included being one of the main advisers to a lead member of the consortium appointed as the preferred bidder for the Department for Transport's PFI project to replace the current fleet of high speed trains (the project has a reported value in excess of £7 billion).
