Damages for driver after accident involving untraced third party
25 May 2009
Our client was injured in a road traffic accident following a collision with an untraced driver. He suffered nasty injuries which will require an operation and future time off work.
What we did
Because the driver was untraced, we submitted a claim with the Motor Insurers Bureau. We obtained compensation for the injuries caused, costs of the future operation and contribution towards the costs of hiring a locum doctor, as the client was a doctor who would have to take time off work, meaning his GP practice would have to hire someone to work on his behalf
Background
We obtained medical evidence as our client suffered from paresthesiae in both arms. It transpired he had suffered thoracic outlet syndrome, which was causing discomfort in his arms.
Further investigations were recommended, and the removal of the first rib was considered. We ascertained the costs of the operation privately and recovered a sum of money to cover this and the costs of hiring a locum doctor.
