Bell’s palsy episodes among accident injuries

19 June 2009

Our client was involved in a road traffic accident, in which she sustained an exacerbation of lower back pain for three to six months, and neck symptoms for 12 to 18 months.

What we did

We firstly obtained an admission of liability from the third party insurers, after which we obtained medical evidence from a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in relation to our client’s orthopaedic injuries.

We then obtained medical evidence from a consultant neurologist in respect of the episodes of Bell’s palsy, after which settlement was negotiated and agreed in the sum of £13,000.

Background

Our client had a pre-accident medical history involving episodes of facial palsy, with the last episode occurring two years before the accident. The accident had triggered another episode, which led to our client suffering permanent symptoms of numbness and a ‘drooping’ of one side of her face.
