Damages awarded to Claimant for £90k with ongoing physical and psychological injuries
06 July 2009
Our client was involved in a very serious accident resulting in a significant traumatic brain injury of moderate severity.
What we did
Liability for the accident was admitted in full.
Medical evidence was obtained which detailed significant injuries including a moderate brain injury, soft tissue injury to knee resulting in an infra-patellar bursitis, haematomas in both thighs requiring surgical intervention, whiplash injuries to neck and back, extensive bruising together with psychological injuries of anxiety and panic attacks.
At the time of the accident, our client was employed full-time as a Lecturer.
Our client was left with ongoing symptoms which impacted upon her ability to work and her day to day activities. It had always been our client’s intention to continue working past the normal retirement age of 60 but following the accident, our client made the decision to retire at 60 years rather than continue as had previously been anticipated.
Our client had continuing cognitive difficulties which included short term memory loss, and some persisting psychological symptoms. She also suffered with permanent ongoing symptoms to her legs and knee.
Our client was awarded damages in the sum of £90,000.
