Permanent leg injury attracts settlement of £13500

30 July 2009

Our client sustained a fractured femur in a road traffic accident whilst riding a motorcycle, which required surgery to internally fixate with a nail and locking screws.

What we did

We firstly secured an admission of liability with the third party’s insurers, after which we obtained medical evidence from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon outlining the injuries sustained by the client and giving a final opinion as to the long-term effects.

Thereafter, we collated and presented details of the client’s financial losses and successfully negotiated settlement of the client’s claim.

Background

Our client sustained a fracture to her right femur, for which she underwent surgery to internally fixate the fracture with a nail and locking screws.

Our client required the use of crutches for approximately 4 weeks followed by a restriction in daily activities for approximately 8 months after the accident, during which time she required assistance from her mother.

The Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon instructed in the claim was of the opinion that the client’s remaining symptoms after 2½ years would remain indefinitely.
