Carol is an Associate in the National Intellectual Property Group and specialises in Creative Industries. Carol divides her time between the Manchester Spinningfield’s office and The Sharp Project, a multimillion pound creative and digital hub.
Carol specialises in intellectual property and commercial law, she advises a broad variety of clients on a wide range of commercial and intellectual property matters.
Carol has advised on many forms of commercial contracts including trade mark licences, confidentiality agreements, merchandising and sponsorship agreements and copyright licences and assignments, as well as advising in respect of contentious matters, including passing off, copyright infringement, trade mark infringement and design right infringement claims.
Carol has particular experience in music law and her clients include musicians, music managers, producers and independent record labels. As well as advising on contractual matters e.g. management agreements, recording and publishing agreements, producer agreements and licensing deals, Carol has successfully acted in a large number of high value cases including music manager disputes and copyright infringement claims.
Carol is a regular speaker at music industry events and has been a panellist at Liverpool Sound City, Manchester Music Seminars, Music Managers Forum induction days and at events organised by the leading music development agency, Generator, including music law clinics. Carol has also ran music law clinics at Liverpool Sound City and at Kendal Calling Festival.
Prior to becoming a lawyer Carol was the lead singer/songwriter in a signed band and subsequently worked in music management for several years.
