Jill is a Private Client lawyer with a commercial attitude specialising in Scottish Residential Property transactions.
Day to day, Jill deals with sales, purchases and remortgages of residential property for residential and commercial clients throughout Scotland, having a particular specialism in dealing with high net worth individuals be it properties to live in or investment properties. Jill's workload includes purchase and sale of residential properties in rural areas (with the exception of crofts), and Jill has a wealth of experience in dealing with High Net worth clients and High-Net Worth properties in Scotland.
Jill has previously worked in both Commercial Property (Real Estate) and Private Client in previous firms in Scotland and has a good working knowledge and understanding in these additional areas.
Jill has also developed,through her years in practice , specialisms in residential remortgage work for high street lenders, having previously managed a large remortgage team for Lloyds TSB in Scotland and managed a plot sales team for residential house sales for housebuilders in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen where she supervised the paralegals and was in day to day contact with the housebuilders in terms of the site set ups and Deeds of Conditions for the various sites.
Jill also deals with the residential property side of residential lettings and has been involved, through the Scottish Property Federation, in consultation and lobbying in relation to the recent changes in residential property law in Scotland, specifically in connection with Build to Rent in the Private Rented Sector.
As part of the Scottish Conveyancing team at Shoosmiths, Jill is part of the firm's Estate Agency team, marketing properties for sale in Scotland, particularly in the Edinburgh and Lothians area through the espc and Zoopla.
Jill was formerly a Director at Burness Paull LLP where she headed up the Residential Plot Sales Team.
Jill sits on the committee of the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum (ECF), so is at the forefront of residential property policy and procedure in Scotland.
