Karen is a corporate partner and leads the corporate team in Manchester. Karen has extensive experience advising both private and public companies on a wide breadth of M&A transactions including acquisitions and disposals, complex international and cross-border deals, equity investment, compliance and corporate governance.
She also acts for brokers, NOMADs and companies on flotations and secondary issues and public company M&A.
Karen acts for clients across a wide range of sectors and has developed particular expertise working with businesses in the hotels & leisure, retail, technology, manufacturing and financial services sectors.
Recent experience includes advising:
- YFM Equity Partners, the specialist private equity fund manager, on its investment in the £9million transaction into Manchester-based business telecoms infrastructure company 4net Technologies Ltd.
- North West wholesaler and distributor for SPAR, James Hall & Company Limited on its acquisition of North East Convenience Stores Limited, which operates 30 shops under the Nisa and Bargain Booze brands.
- London-based investor Downing LLP and a new management team made up of three experienced hotel operators in their acquisition of Dunkeld House, an historic four star hotel in the Scottish Highlands.
- Malvern International plc on its acquisition of SAA Global Education Centre PTE. LTD. in Singapore and admission of consideration shares to trading on AIM.
Karen joined Shoosmiths in July 2010 as a founder member of the Shoosmiths Corporate team in Manchester.
