Simon Boss is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shoosmiths. He is responsible for driving forward the vision of the firm, which is to be the UK’s leading law firm famous for its superb client experience.
Before being elected to the CEO role in 2018, Simon was national head of the firm’s real estate division; in six years driving a 120% increase in income and 130% increase in profit. Achievements ‘behind the numbers’ here included leading a bold investment strategy (which saw the successful establishment and growth of teams in London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Leeds), the introduction of improved knowledge management processes, and the early deployment of service-enhancing A.I. – all whilst retaining the strong teamwork and collaborative vision that characterises Shoosmiths’ approach in the market.
Simon brings a first-hand understanding of the opportunities inherent in changing markets and the imperative of listening to, and innovating in response to, the needs of clients, who expect agility, quality, value, delivery – as well as a relatable, human touch – from the law firms they choose to work with.
As CEO, Simon combines leadership and management of the firm’s four core Divisions (Real Estate, Corporate, Business Advisory and Private Client) and six support Directorates, and is focused on providing the unifying drive to take Shoosmiths into its next exciting chapter. Signature hallmarks of his leadership style include a strong commitment to diversity, fairness, empathy and humour.
Simon joined Shoosmiths in 2005 from Eversheds and helped to spearhead the growth of the firm’s Birmingham office. He became Real Estate Head in Birmingham and served on Shoosmiths’ national strategic body, the Partnership Council from 2009 to 2012 before stepping up to a place on the Shoosmiths Board and the role of Real Estate Division Head in 2012.
