Wayne is a partner and head of the property litigation team in the north. On 1 January 2019, he was also appointed head of Shoosmiths’ fully agile Manchester office, which employs more than 230 people at the prestigious XYZ Building, Spinningfields.
His experience covers all aspects of commercial property risk and disputes, acting for some of the largest property developers, investors and occupiers in the North West and UK-wide. He also acts regularly in mediations and expert determinations and clients pay testimony to his ability “genuinely to have ideas, not just take instructions".

Sample experience includes:
- Rights of light risk analysis and strategy on some of the largest development schemes in the UK; with a specific emphasis on high rise towers within the PRS and Student sectors;
- Advising a JV consortium in respect of an option dispute for a significant regeneration scheme in the North;
- Providing strategic advice to a major UK property investor regarding complex tenant break conditions in order to prevent early exit from a lease;
- Acting for a substantial property investor to enforce a tenant's repairing covenants prior to lease expiry to avoid a drawn out terminal dilapidations claim and rental voids.
Wayne joined Shoosmiths in 2013 as a partner having spent most of his career at Eversheds and helped spearhead the growth of the firm’s real estate litigation team to be one of the strongest players in the north-west at that time. He is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Dilapidations Forum.
