The Midlands engine – driving economic growth & the industrial strategy

In recent years, the Midlands has seen numerous exciting and progressive developments, the emergence of logistics warehousing as a prominent asset class and major infrastructure projects which have helped to connect the region better than ever before.

The number of homes constructed in the region has more than doubled in the last few years and there are also a whole bunch of exciting new developments to look forward to.

The Covid pandemic has however threatened many of our developments and caused the market to stall. But the industry is now picking itself up, activity levels are increasing and confidence is returning. That’s not to say we are through this though, and it is clear plenty of challenges lie ahead. The need to work together to deliver new projects, drive economic growth and support the industrial strategy for the region has arguably never been stronger.

This month we sponsored Built Environment’s Midlands Development Conference, with Jason Jackson chairing a panel comprising:

  • Rob Groves, Regional Director, Midlands Argent.
  • Lesley Holt, Director West Midlands 5G (WMCA).
  • Rachel North, Strategic Director for Communities and Place Derby City Council.
