Shoosmiths celebrates its Love of Leeds

UK law firm Shoosmiths is celebrating the finale to its backing of a city-themed photographic project, by holding an exhibition and evening of entertainment for clients and leading lights of the city.

Love of Leeds is a year-long project in conjunction with the city’s council and photojournalist Jude Palmer.

Love of Leeds

The photography aims to capture the heart and soul of Leeds and the impact the city has on its citizens and visitors.

The project started in January 2019 to express the spirit of the city through photography capturing both everyday moments and large events from the cycling extravaganza, Tour de Yorkshire to the Leeds International Film Festival.

Clients gathered at the firm’s office in the Platform building with a spectacular view over the city from its floor to ceiling windows at the end of November for the event.

As the launch of the Love of Leeds photographic book took place and an exhibition of selected large images from the project was unveiled, guests enjoyed entertainment from performers living and working in the city including dancers from the annual West Indian Carnival and contemporary dance theatre and music.

Peter Morris, partner and head of family law in Leeds said: “We are proud to back this inspired project to showcase our amazing city that continues to develop and define what a city should be for those who live and work here. Our Leeds office has gone from strength to strength – it’s hard to believe we only opened three years ago here – reflecting our ambition to be a Northern hub of legal expertise.”

The photography is grouped into themes by the key emotional attribute each photo conveys such as cool, bold, Yorkshire grit, passion, performance, devotion, talent or strength.
