Award winning Shoosmiths embraces Spring with drinks event

Last night (Thursday 26 April) saw the Edinburgh office of Shoosmiths welcome over 100 clients and industry insiders when partners and senior associates across all practice areas hosted its second successful Spring Drinks event.

Guests represented a diverse number of key industry sectors, including from banking/financial services, real estate, property development, house building, retail, restructuring and accountancy.

Held within its Saltire Court premises, the event comes just a week after Shoosmiths was crowned National/Regional Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards. That prestigious accolade was in recognition of Shoosmiths' significant achievements over the past 12 months, including the advancement of its business strategy and impressive financial performance underpinned by effective leadership.

The Edinburgh office of the UK-wide law firm continues to experience growth in key elements of its business, including real estate, litigation and corporate.

Janette Speed, real estate partner and head of Shoosmiths office in Edinburgh, commented: "Our highly successful annual Spring drinks event has presented Shoosmiths' clients and industry insiders with a fantastic opportunity to network and discuss topical business issues within a relaxed setting."

Speed added: "Shoosmiths office in Edinburgh continues to see a marked growth in key practice areas, including corporate and real estate and we anticipate this positive trend will continue throughout 2018.

"We have strengthened our client base in relation to core real estate, landlord and tenant work, multi-faceted hotel and leisure and residential and commercial development, and investment work, which includes care homes and health, in addition to the energy, telecoms and scientific sectors."

Reflecting its continued growth, the firm expects to continue developing its pipeline of legal talent, with Speed noting that in recent months several senior legal appointments have been made in its corporate and real estate teams: "As a progressive, UK-wide business that only last week was crowned National /Regional Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards, we remain firmly committed to attracting senior legal talent and offering newly qualified solicitors the benefit of unrivalled training and support.

"Our sustained recruitment process, focused on attracting bright and motivated legal talent, underlines Shoosmiths' ongoing commitment to provide the highest quality of service for our expanding client base."
