Everyone is starting to get into the festive spirit, and Shoosmiths is working hard to provide good cheer for the tremendous work of our national charity, which at the moment is Barnardo's.
We aim to raise at least £60,000 for the leading children's charity by the end of next April.
The money will enable Barnardo's to employ two specialist workers to tackle child sexual exploitation - an issue it believes is the most pressing and hidden child protection issue for UK children aged 10 and over.
Their work will include:
- protecting children through outreach work and referrals from local authorities, schools and the police
- provision of practical and emotional support to help them turn their lives around
- provision of safe accommodation
- preventative work in local schools and centres by communicating with children and young people, informing them of the dangers and teaching them how to stay safe
Our fundraising calendar has been incredibly busy. Highlights being our partners' conference, where we raised more than £5,000; while colleagues have organised a fashion show, completed an assault course, climbed the Scottish 4000s peaks in a weekend, marathon running, quiz nights, and of course the ever-popular cake bake sales. Our first year trainees are also busy completing a number of 'Apprentice Challenges'.
We recently completed our annual Silent Auction, which sees staff bidding for a variety of lots kindly donated by colleagues, clients and suppliers.

In the meantime, everyone at Shoosmiths hopes you have a wonderful time over the holiday period, and a Happy New Year.
