Seven new partners are among 16 promotions at Shoosmiths.

They are joined in the national law firm's 2012 round by nine new senior associates.

All promotions take effect from 1 May.

New partners are: Cherry Hancock, Beth McArdle and James Needham (all real estate); Jonathan Naylor (equivalent, employment); Wendy Rainbow (Lender Services Group); Tim Willis (planning); and Denise Stephens (medical negligence, under consumer brand Access Legal from Shoosmiths).

Made up to senior associate are: Sean Adams and Lisa Keating (both equivalents, Lender Services Group); Melissa Barker and Craig Downhill (both real estate); Stephen Cock (construction); Mark Foden and Rachel Griffiths (both finance and banking); Jenny Ogden (Lender Services Group); and Lucy Thomas (wills, family and wealth; Access Legal).

Chief executive Claire Rowe said: "Our focus at the moment is on client relationships - establishing new ones and developing existing ones; and on reputation - building on the excellent name we've won for Shoosmiths across so many sectors.

"We can only develop those relationships and that reputation with the dedication and hard work of people like those who've been promoted.

"The business environment in which we're working remains challenging, so it's even more important to have this sort of talent in our ranks, and makes their promotions even more of an achievement."

It is the second year Shoosmiths has promoted to senior associate level, which was created last year to recognise the responsibilities taken on by many of the firm's experienced associates.
