Shoosmiths has raised more than £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in its annual 'World's Biggest Coffee Event'

Macmillan became the national law firm's charity partner earlier this year. Shoosmiths has pledged to raise £50,000 for the charity over the next nine months.

Now in its 22nd year, the annual charity event, held on Friday 28 September, reached a record-breaking £10m in 2011 - a target Macmillan is hoping to smash in 2012.

Various fundraising activities took place across all ten of Shoosmiths' offices including bake-offs, raffles, cupcake decorating competitions, tablet and fudge sales, table football competitions and mufti donations.

Shoosmiths welcomed existing clients and big names including Coca-Cola Enterprises, to informal charity coffee mornings held at each of the national law firm's offices.

Attendees, including Macmillan's director of fundraising Claire Singlehurst, were greeted with homemade cakes, a selection of hot and cold beverages, raffles, and the opportunity to network.

Funds raised will go towards financial grants for local people with cancer and the new Macmillan haematology suite at Northampton General Hospital.

Shoosmiths' CR Director Nicola Ellen said: "Everyone here has made a tremendous effort to raise as much as we can for our first official charity event for Macmillan Cancer Support.

"We've also been lucky enough to make some great new relationships along the way and are particularly grateful to our clients who've so kindly supported us at our regional events."

Macmillan account manager Bernadette Halton added: "What a fantastic event; 2012's World's Biggest Coffee Morning has been our best yet, and Shoosmiths' enthusiasm has been amazing.

"Thank you so much everyone for joining in, this is a great start to our fundraising activities."
