National law firm Shoosmiths has advised PIMS Group on its sale to Xylem Inc.

Xylem, a leading global water technology company, acquired PIMS Group, a privately held UK-based wastewater services company, for circa $57m.

Shoosmiths' corporate specialists Sean Wright, Lynn Knight and Tim Moss led the transaction team, advising the management shareholders of PIMS - backed by Inflexion and HSBC - on the sale.

Farnborough-based PIMS Group is a national supplier of wastewater installation and maintenance services for the municipal, industrial and private sector markets. It provides a 24/7 service capability from design and installation to service maintenance of pumping systems, sewers and drains, oil interceptors and sewage treatment plants.

PIMS Group's CEO Charlie White said of the Shoosmiths team: "Sean, Lynn and Tim were superb. Their attention to detail, effort and ability was second to none and outshone the opposition's City firms."

Shoosmiths first worked with the PIMS management team on the initial buyout in 2004, and again on the secondary buy-out in 2008, when Inflexion invested.

Law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn (London) provided legal advice to Xylem.

(This transaction recently won Deal of the Year (over £25m category) at the Solent Deals Awards, 2013 - a reflection of its significance in its geographic market).
