The firm was named 'law firm of the year' and one of its transactions also won the 'deal of the year' award.

The Solent Deals Awards, now in their 7th year, are organised annually by The Business Magazine and sponsored by a range of major names in the corporate finance sector.

The awards event, attended by over 200 guests, was held at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton. It provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the many successful deals and the strength of the corporate finance community across Southampton, Hampshire, Dorset and the wider Solent region.

Shoosmiths has now won the law firm of the year title for the last three years.

This year Shoosmiths also advised on the £20m LDC-backed MBO of The Training Room which won 'Deal of the Year' in the sub- £25m category.

Shoosmiths partner Sean Wright, head of the firm's South corporate team, said: 'To come away with two awards from one evening is a great vote of confidence in the ability of our team here in the region to work on complex high value transactions. Winning the category three years running means a lot to the team.

'The awards reinforce the high-quality of our corporate work across the south of England and places us at the heart of the region's deal-making community.'

Shoosmiths has one of the most active and dynamic corporate teams nationwide and has in the last two successive years been recognised in the top five law firms for volume of UK deals undertaken and was also voted Corporate Law Firm of the Year at last year's national M&A Awards.

The team advises public and private companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start up and first round finance through to M&A, management buy-out transactions, development funding, restructuring, private equity funding and exits.
