National law firm Shoosmiths has been shortlisted for the Asset Finance Legal Provider of the Year award at the prestigious Leasing Life Awards 2014.
The awards - which recognise the achievements of the European asset finance industry - will directly follow the annual Leasing Life conference at the InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw, Poland on 27 November.
An independent panel of judges assess the Asset Finance of the Year award on team expertise; visibility and influence in the marketplace; versatility; both in terms of types of work undertaken (litigation, transactional etc) and sectors worked in (fleet, equipment, large ticket, SME, motor etc); volume and complexity of work undertaken and notable successes on behalf of clients.
Shoosmiths - who advises clients such as Hitachi Rail, Stagecoach Group, BNP Paribas and Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Ltd plc - has heavily invested in state-of-the-art technological recoveries processes and the team has recovered more than four million pounds for clients in the last 12 months.
One of this year's most notable asset finance projects has been for Hitachi Rail, of whom Shoosmiths has most recently been main advisor to on a £3bn project relating to the trains and depots for the East Coast Main Line. The project is a PFI project and has a total reported value in excess of £7billion. In July 2012 Shoosmiths completed the first part of the transaction (which relates to the trains and depots for the Great Western Main Line - reported value c £4.5billion).
