National law firm Shoosmiths has been shortlisted for Litigation Team of the Year and Employer of the Year at this year's Scott+Co Scottish Legal Awards.

The awards - which recognise the achievements of the individuals, firms and teams in the legal industry - will take place at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh's city centre on 26 March.

An independent panel made up of experts from the legal, political and business spheres will judge the shortlisted entries.

Janette Speed, head of the Edinburgh office, said: 'It is an honour to be shortlisted for these prestigious awards. We always work hard to ensure the client is at the heart of everything we do at Shoosmiths. Being shortlisted in both of these categories is a terrific reflection of the talent we have here and our commitment to ensuring that Shoosmiths is a great place to work.'

Rod Macphail, head of litigation in Edinburgh, commented: 'It is a delight to have been shortlisted for the Litigation Team of the Year award at the Scott & Co Scottish Legal Awards. The team works innovatively and very hard to ensure that we always give the best possible service to our clients.'

Shoosmiths is renowned for its employee satisfaction and has been ranked higher than any other national firm in Legal Week's Employee Satisfaction Survey 2014 for the 10th consecutive year.

The firm employs people who build great relationships with their clients and colleagues to ensure the delivery of results for their clients. In 2014, Shoosmiths joined an elite band of just 7% of all UK businesses to be re-awarded the coveted 'Investors in People Gold Standard' by Investors in People, as a result of our commitment to employees.

Shoosmiths' recoveries services group handles a wide range of recoveries litigation for leading financial institutions, commercial businesses and public sector bodies and are highly regarded for advice in insolvency and banking litigation matters in particular. Extensive growth has led to an increased specialisation of the service offering and now has specialist units for financial services, compliance and regulatory, commercial recoveries, public sector and defended litigation.
