VCT and EIS experts at national law firm Shoosmiths are to impart their knowledge at the UK's 'must attend' event for private investors, IFAs and wealth managers interested in tax-efficient investing, next month.
The award-winning VCT & EIS Investor Forum, takes place on 24 November at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. Now in its 8th year, it is the only live event in the UK focused on bringing hundreds of private investors and IFAs to meet the VCT and EIS fund management community on one day and in one place.
Shoosmiths is an exhibiting sponsor and tax partner, Tom Wilde will be a panellist on a discussion around the outcomes of the Autumn Budget and the potential 'new tax order' resulting from this. Other Shoosmiths experts attending on the day are to include corporate partners Alistair Peet (head of venture capital), Sanjeev Sharma and Steve Barnett.
Shoosmiths' Tom Wilde, said: "It's great to again have the opportunity to share our observations about the industry to such an illustrious crowd. Whilst the demand from investors for tax-efficient investment and for companies requiring such funding is, in our view, at an all-time high, the increasing complexity of the EIS and VCT regimes together with further changes that will no doubt be announced in the Autumn Budget mean that it is an increasingly challenging environment for investors and companies to operate in.
"The forum is a great event and with many clients active in this market it makes a lot of sense for us to support it. Shoosmiths can offer cradle-to-grave legal and tax services for investors and investee companies throughout the UK and feel we have a unique offering in this regard."
Shoosmiths LLP is one of the most active UK law firms in the area of advanced manufacturing and high-growth tech companies, acting for founders, investors, funders, and research organisations, who look to the firm for transactional advice, VCT, EIS and SEIS tax advice and IP and commercialisation advice for both early-stage and established companies. Shoosmiths was recently 'Highly Commended' in the EISA Awards 2016 and was a finalist at the Investor Allstar Awards 2016.
Nationally, the corporate team is ranked in first place by deal volume in Experian's 2016 MarketIQ UK & Ireland M&A league tables. The team was recognised for its mergers and acquisitions expertise at the 2015 M&A Awards, winning the Law Firm of the Year category.
